Overview

An effective way to improve your smile and hide chipped, crooked, decayed, or stained teeth is with porcelain veneers, crafted by Dr. Sangiv Patel at his private practice, Sangiv I. Patel, D.D.S., PA. Dental veneers are light shells made out of porcelain that can be bonded to the front of your teeth to improve the overall look of your smile. Schedule an appointment at our Melbourne, FL office to learn more about porcelain veneers and decide if this procedure might suit your goals.

Best Candidates

Porcelain veneers can be used to quickly mask chips and stains on your enamel, improve misaligned or worn down teeth, and fix teeth that are poorly shaped or spaced. At our facility, your porcelain veneers will be custom made to fit comfortably over your teeth for an attractive and natural look using Dr. Patel's highly innovative CEREC 3D Restorative System. At your consultation, Dr. Patel will listen to your goals and expectations so he can customize your treatment. From there, he will determine if you are a good candidate for porcelain veneers by evaluating your overall oral health. To be a candidate for porcelain veneers, you should not exhibit signs of periodontal disease, or habitually clench your jaw and grind your teeth (called bruxism).

What To Expect

As soon as you have developed your unique treatment plan with Dr. Patel, he will take digital impressions of your mouth so your veneers can be tailor-made to fit your smile. Your porcelain veneers will be produced in our office with our CEREC 3D Restorative System, which uses high-quality porcelain material. When your porcelain veneers are ready, Dr. Patel will remove a small amount of enamel from the front of your teeth. This creates space for the veneers and improves the bond for a more natural result that lasts a long time. Once your veneers are bonded, Dr. Patel can make minor adjustments until your veneers are ideally comfortable.

Recovery

Since getting veneers normally does not require anesthesia, you should be able to continue your daily activities after your appointment. You may experience some sensitivity to hot and cold food for a few days, but this should subside naturally. Your veneers should be cleaned, like your natural teeth, with regular brushing and flossing. While porcelain veneers are more resistant to stains compared to your natural enamel, you should still avoid staining foods and drinks to keep your smile bright. To avoid harming your veneers, you should not chew on hard objects, such as ice or your fingernails. Continue to schedule your annual dental exams and bi-annual cleanings at Sangiv I. Patel, D.D.S., PA so we can monitor the condition of your porcelain veneers, teeth, gums, and overall oral health. Dr. Patel will let you know if your cosmetic veneers have to be repaired or replaced as time goes on.

Insurance Coverage

Veneers are a cosmetic procedure so they are usually not paid by dental insurance. Dr. Patel's private practice does accept many payment methods, including medical financing, to make your treatment easier to afford. During your consultation, Dr. Patel will customize your treatment to fit your goals and budget. He will go over an estimate for your treatment and explain your payment options.
